Inspired by the LAPD Rampart Scandal of the late 1990s, Antoine Fuqua's Training Day tells the story of a rookie cop (Ethan Hawke), who lands an opportunity to work with a veteran detective (Denzel Washington) for a day and possibly earn a spot in his unit. The corruption he uncovers as a result leads him to question his own ethics and the line he believes exists for all who wear the badge.
Released in October of 2001, Training Day would go on to become a massive commercial success, providing Denzel Washington with his second Academy Award and Ethan Hawke his first Academy Award nomination.
